From my point of view...

I try to be an observant dude. And I've noticed in my short 26 year existence that history keeps repeating itself... Its simple. Things change. As soon as they do people gravitate towards the change or away from the change. The thing that sucks about this little paradox is that each side develops enmity toward the other... I'm not sure I understand the cause. But the issue of humanity (other than sin and separation from God) is that we hate anything different.
Hence nationalism, racism, sexism, policialpartyism and any other ism we can create that causes segregation. No government is going to end this little problem... Only Christ can end this problem. Only through loving your neighbor as yourself... and loving your enemies, and turning the other cheek can we unite into something powerful that will actually make an impact across the economical, social, racial, national and political lines we have drawn.

It all comes down the Jesus answer to the question, "What is the greatest commandment?"

"And he said to him, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets." Matthew 22:37-40 ESV
